Crater Camp is a truly unique and rare experience on Mount Kilimanjaro. Sitting at 18,865 ft (5,750 m), it’s the highest campsite on the mountain, just 475 ft below the summit.
Unlike typical summit attempts done at night, we ascend during daylight, reaching the top and then spending the night at Crater Camp for enhanced acclimatization and unmatched views.
Because the entire crew and equipment must ascend higher than on other routes, this climb requires more effort and logistical support, resulting in higher costs.
From Crater Camp, trekkers can take a short one-hour hike to the stunning Reusch Crater or explore the Furtwangler Glacier—rarely seen by most visitors.
While the experience is extraordinary, it comes with significant altitude risks, and only climbers with proven acclimatization are approved for this journey.
