The Rongai Route is the only trail that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the north, near the Kenyan border. Despite its growing popularity, it remains a quiet and uncrowded path, offering a more private hiking experience. The gentle, steady slope makes it ideal for climbers seeking a moderate challenge or for those with limited trekking experience.
Known for its remote wilderness and less rainfall during the wet season, Rongai is a great option for climbs in any weather. Though its scenery is less diverse than western trails, its pristine landscapes and solitude make it truly unique. The descent follows the Marangu Route, completing a full cross-mountain experience.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be welcomed and transferred to Salinero B&B, where you’ll meet your lead guide for a detailed briefing, gear check, and equipment rental if needed.
