The Lemosho Route is widely regarded as the most beautiful trail on Mount Kilimanjaro. It offers panoramic views from multiple sides of the mountain and combines low crowds, diverse landscapes, and a high summit success rate.
As one of the newer and more gradual ascent routes, Lemosho provides excellent acclimatization opportunities—making it one of Almighty Kilimanjaro’s most recommended climbs.
Approaching from the western side, the journey begins with a drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate, followed by a trek through lush rainforest and up to the Shira Plateau. You’ll cross this vast alpine plain before joining the Machame Route near Lava Tower, continuing beneath the Southern Ice Field via the Southern Circuit to the Barafu summit camp. Descent is via the Mweka Route, through a different trail offering new scenery on the way down.
