At dawn, the first light spills over the Southern Alps, catching the pyramid peak of Mount Aspiring — the so-called Matterhorn of the South — in a glow that feels almost unreal. Its slender summit calls to those who crave height, solitude, and the quiet pulse of true alpine adventure.

Your journey begins in Wānaka before a spectacular helicopter flight into Bevan Col — the gateway to this mountain world. From there, the path unfolds across the Bonar Glacier to Colin Todd Hut, your base high among the ice. Training climbs and smaller peaks prepare you for the main ascent, where the ridge rises steep and clean against the morning sky. On summit day, you climb through shadow and wind until the South Island opens below in all its fierce beauty. Nights are spent in mountain huts or tents under an endless canopy of stars.

Everything is prepared for you, let us take care of the logistics, so you can focus on the adventure! It’s a demanding journey, but one that rewards every step with silence, space, and views that stay with you long after the descent. Come climb with us and feel what it means to stand on the edge of the sky!

*The longer route is also available - 7 Days $8450
*This trip is guided on a 1:1 client to guide ratio. If you'd like to summit with a friend, a second guide will be required to ensure the utmost safety and care.

Here, your guide introduces glacier travel techniques and the use of ice axes and crampons. A one-hour walk across the Bonar Glacier leads you to Colin Todd Hut — your base for the ascent. In good weather, you may bivouac or camp outside beneath the stars.
