This challenging yet rewarding trek takes you through a less explored region that is popular among trekkers in Khevi province, Georgia. The journey begins in the famous Truso Valley, known for its vibrant travertines and effervescent mineral lake, before ascending steeply to the Keli volcanic plateau while circumventing Khorisar volcano and several steep, rocky passes. Camping near Kelitsadi Lake enhances the overall surreal experience of the serene highlands.

Route details

Driving distance: 150 km, approximately 2.5 hours;
Hiking distance: 8 km, around 5.5 hours; elevation gain of 1040 m and descent of 248 m.
Difficulty level: Moderate;

Pick-up at 8:00 AM from Tbilisi. Enjoy a 2.5-hour drive along the Georgian Military Highway heading to Truso Valley in Khevi province.

Begin the trek near the village of Kvemo Okrokana towards the Keli plateau.

Camp overnight at an altitude of 2700 m above sea level.
