The Víknaslóðir trails (Trails of the Inlets) comprise an extensive network of well-marked and diverse hiking paths that stretch from the village of Borgarfjörður Eystri to Loðmundarfjörður. Over the years, locals have established and maintained numerous trails, earning the area its reputation as a true hiker's paradise. They also produce a high-quality hiking map and manage comfortable lodges with amenities in Breiðavík, Húsavík, and Loðmundarfjörður, located in the remote inlets and fjords south of Borgarfjörður Eystri.

The mountains exhibit a wide range of shapes and sizes, showcasing a stunning array of colors—from black sand beaches to the pinkish-orange tones of the mountain ridges. The trails meander between secluded coves and fjords, across vibrant hills and through lush valleys, all the way to the coastline. The remnants of abandoned houses and ancient farm ruins add character to the landscape.

What began as a trial of three tours in 2021 quickly evolved into a highly sought-after experience for women around the globe. I founded our company after noticing the lack of women-only tours in Iceland, and I decided to create my own. I am gradually building a community for female travelers, encouraging them to push their boundaries. Although our company was established in 2021, I have been working as a tour guide in Iceland since 2013 and have had a passion for hiking, traveling, and connecting with nature from an early age. Our mission is to empower women through immersive travel experiences, providing opportunities for self-transformation and meaningful connections with others. We offer female-led excursions throughout Iceland, featuring everything from classic road trips to thrilling hikes on scenic trails.

Route details

Day 1
Arriving to Egilsstaðir and Hiking Stórurð

Today we have an early wake up as we make our way to the domestic airport to catch the morning flight from Reykjavik (RKV) to Egilsstaðir (ESG). Upon arrival we will be greeted by our guide - have your bags packed and be ready to go because it’s go time when we hit the ground!

Our flight should arrive around 10 a.m., and from here we will begin our hike to Stórurð, an area featuring enormous tuff boulders strewn across a seamless blend of meadows and lakes. We will stop to enjoy our packed lunch along the trail as we take in the stunning views. After lunch our day continues as we approach the Borgafjörður Eystri Fjord, a charming place with only 100 inhabitants offering a great variety of hiking routes and a marina for observing puffins. Here we will settle into our hotel for the evening and be rewarded with a delicious local fish soup and other delicacies.

The rest of the night is yours to relax, and there will also be an option to go and visit the puffins in the evening!
