Route details
Your adventure kicks off at the BSÍ bus terminal in downtown Reykjavík at 06:45, where you’ll meet your highlands guide and the rest of the group. By 07:00, you'll board the public Highland Bus headed for Landmannalaugar!
After approximately 1 hour, we'll make a 40-minute stop in Hella town. First, we’ll meet our luggage transporter and hand over all our luggage and food boxes. Please ensure you’re dressed and fully prepared for the hike, with all your essentials packed in your daypack. The local bakery in Hella is open if anyone missed breakfast. Travellers can take a restroom break before we head back on the road to Landmannalaugar.
Once we arrive in Landmannalaugar we will have some nice lunch, use the bathrooms and start our hiking journey of the legendary Laugavegur trail!
We will arrive in the late afternoon to Hrafntinnusker hut, the highest sitting hut of the trail.

Elevation Gain: The trail has sections that involve significant elevation changes, which means you should be comfortable with uphill and downhill hiking. Some parts reach higher altitudes and sometimes it can be steep.
Terrain: The terrain can be rough and varies greatly, including rocky paths, muddy areas, river crossings, and volcanic landscapes. Familiarity with uneven surfaces is beneficial.
Weather Conditions: The weather can change rapidly, and you may encounter rain, wind, or even snow. Being physically prepared to handle adverse conditions is essential.
Previous Experience: Having experience in multi-day hiking, backpacking, or hiking in similar environments can be advantageous. If you have completed other long hikes, this will benefit you.
