Some mountains ask for patience before they give you the view. Phu Soi Dao is one of them: a seasonal climb in Northern Thailand where forest slopes, rope-assisted sections, cold plateau nights, and a 2,102-metre summit turn a short trek into a real achievement. This route is made for active trekkers who want a moderate challenge, simple camping, and the quiet pride of reaching one of Thailand’s highest seasonal summits.
The journey starts at Phu Soi Dao Waterfall, then climbs steadily through forest and a series of demanding hills toward the pine plateau. Camp is set beneath tall pines, often surrounded by mist and cool mountain air. On the second day, the trail becomes steeper and more technical, with rocky scrambles, exposed ridgelines, and careful progress toward the summit, where wide views stretch across mountains and valleys beyond the border.
Nights are spent in tents on the plateau, with simple hearty meals, hot drinks, and no comfort facilities on the mountain. Porters carry group gear, so you only need a light daypack with personal items and layers. Come for the climb, the mist, and the cold clear nights — and leave with the quiet pride of standing on one of Thailand’s most memorable mountain summits!
