Mount Meru Holiday Expedition

The path from Miriakampa Hut to the Saddle Hut beneath Little Meru is a challenging, steep hike that will really work your legs.

Along the way, we pass through stunning, lush montane forests featuring remarkable tree species like hygenium abyssinica, nuxia congesta, podocarpus, and hypericum tevolutum, with mosses and lichens covering the ground and trees.

By midday, we arrive at the alpine zone of Saddle Hut.

The initial hour involves a challenging ascent to Rhino Point (3800m/12,467ft), after which the trail follows a breathtakingly narrow ridge of ash and rock leading to Cobra Point (4350m/14,272ft).

Upon reaching Saddle Hut in the late morning, we savor a brunch before making our way back to Miriakamba Hut.

Following a relaxed morning, we finish our 2-3 hour descent along the direct path through open grasslands.

By late morning, we arrive at Momella Gate, where we receive our summit certificates, bid farewell to our crew, and enjoy a brief picnic lunch and game drive before heading back to Arusha for a refreshing shower and clean clothes.
