The 6 Days Kilimanjaro Trekking Rongai Route is the only trail approaching Mount Kilimanjaro from the northern side, near the Kenyan border. This route is increasingly popular while still remaining one of the quietest and least crowded routes on the mountain.

This route is also considered the best option during the rainy season, as Kilimanjaro’s northern slopes receive significantly less precipitation than the southern side.

Although the scenery is less varied than western routes such as Lemosho or Machame, the Rongai Route offers a truly authentic mountain wilderness experience with spectacular views of Mawenzi Peak, alpine desert landscapes, and quieter campsites.

The trek ascends via the Rongai Route and descends through the Marangu Route, giving climbers the opportunity to experience two different sides of Mount Kilimanjaro.
