Mount Triglav, standing at 2864m, is the tallest peak in Slovenia and warrants its own special program. It’s a highly sought-after destination in my country, and it’s a mountain that everyone should attempt to climb at least once in their lifetime.

My tour provides an excellent opportunity for solo climbers or those in small groups. These outings are scheduled for Sundays/Mondays and Wednesdays/Thursdays from June 20th until the end of September. If those dates don’t work for you, I also offer private ascents.

During these group climbs, we will ascend Triglav via the Krma Valley, which is the easiest route to the summit. The journey involves approximately 2000m of elevation gain and loss, typically taking around 12-18 hours over two days. Be ready to kick off the adventure at 7 AM on the first day and conclude by 4 PM on the second day.

The winter price is 950€ for a single guest and 500€ pp if 2+ people.

Mitja Š. is the provider and guide of this trip
The provider speaks: English, Slovenian
I am a IFMGA certified mountain guide, ski instructor, and sports teacher. I believe guides do their best job when they guide in the mountains they are most familiar with. That is one of the biggest reasons why I specialize in guiding in Slovenia. I climb Triglav more than 25 times per year, which means I have climbed the most famous peak in my country around 400 times. If you want to climb or ski in the Slovenian mountains, I am the right choice. I guide via ferrata, rock climbing, snow climbing, ice climbing, hikes, freeride skiing, and ski touring. Most of my summer work involves climbing Triglav, and most of my winter work involves Triglav and ski touring around it. Slovenia offers good options for all of these activities, so you are welcome to take a look at my trips and find something for yourself. If you don't find anything, let me know, and I will see if I can help you! I speak English. Ich spreche auch ein bisschen Deutsch. Parlo anche un po' di Italiano e hablo también un poco de Español. If I am not available to guide you, one of the super experienced guides in my team will be your guide.

Route details

Day 1
Krma Valley to Triglavski Dom

We will be ready to start our adventure bright and early at 7 AM. As the sun rises, we will gather our gear and set off from the picturesque Krma Valley.

Our hike will take us through stunning landscapes, and we will be prepared for a challenging trek of 5 to 7 hours, ascending a remarkable 1500 meters in altitude.

By the time we reach Triglavski Dom, we will have worked up quite an appetite. This basic mountain hut will welcome us with its cozy atmosphere, offering rooms with four beds where we can rest our weary bodies. Although the toilets are located in the basement, the comfort of the hut will make it all worthwhile.

Once settled in, we will enjoy warm meals and refreshing drinks. As we sit together, sharing our experiences of the day, we will appreciate the blankets, sheets, and mattresses that will make our stay even more comfortable.

Tour provider's comments

There are around 2000m of ascent and descent, which should take us around 12-18 hours over two days. Be prepared to start the adventure at 7AM on the first day and finish at 4PM on the second day.

The Mount Triglav climb is considered an intermediate-level ascent. It’s not very technical, but it has some areas in the last stretch that require the use of a rope. It’s important that you have a good physical condition and no fear of heights. You should also be able to walk up to 6 hours straight.

Personal equipment you need for the tour

Technical equipment (helmet, harness…) is provided by me.

The list is: harness, helmet, headlamp, warm clothing (fleece, etc.), waterproof jacket and trousers, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, shoes, poles, backpack (30 L), water bottle, medicine prescribed by your doctor, camera, energy bars, chocolates, other food for during the climb, Alpine Club membership card.

There are limited options for renting boots in Slovenia, so I recommend that you bring your own. If you don't have them, I can send you some links to the rental shops (there is only one in Bohinj which has all sizes).
