Rwanda’s Wild Treasures

Following an early breakfast at 4:30 am, you will head to the chimpanzee tracking trail in either the Cyamudongo or Uwinka areas. The combined population of the two groups is 80 individuals, making this an unforgettable experience.

In the afternoon, after your chimpanzee tracking adventure, you can enjoy East Africa’s only canopy walk. This walk takes place high above a deep gorge that runs through the expansive forest. Lasting approximately 1½ hours, it will lead you through stunning foliage and diverse animal habitats. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to spot blue monkeys and various unique birds that inhabit the upper levels of the forest canopy.

After breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Kivu, a stunning destination known for its picturesque landscapes and tranquil waters.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat ride, where you can relax and take in the breathtaking views while visiting a few islands that dot the lake's surface.

As the sun sets, you'll have the opportunity to witness the vibrant colors reflecting off the water, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

Your accommodation for the night is located on the shores of Lake Kivu, allowing you to unwind and soak in the serene beauty of your surroundings.

Today after breakfast, you will be transferred to Musanze, close to the beautiful Volcano range, where you can enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and vibrant local culture.

Upon your arrival, you'll have some time to relax and explore the area before enjoying a delightful dinner and an overnight stay at your booked lodge, ensuring a comfortable retreat after a day of adventure.

Following breakfast, head to the park headquarters for your initial encounter with the endangered species in Volcanoes National Park.

The Golden Monkey Trek is typically a straightforward hike lasting 1-2 hours.

Later, you will tour the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund in Rwanda, a hub dedicated to gorilla conservation and scientific research.

After breakfast today, you'll drive for about 30 minutes to the Office Rwandais du Tourisme et Des Parc Nationaux. The head ranger will organize you into groups according to your interests and fitness levels. From there, your guide will take you as close as possible to the starting point of your trek. You will track one of the habituated gorilla groups, with the tracking time ranging from as little as half an hour to as much as eight hours.

Your trek will be an exhilarating adventure through forested slopes, tangled vines, bushes, and bamboo until you reach the gorillas' current location. Your guide will highlight signs of recent gorilla activity, such as dung, nests, and chewed bamboo shoots. Once the gorillas are found, you will have a maximum of one hour to spend with them. Encountering a mountain gorilla up close is a deeply moving and humbling experience.

Today, following a leisurely breakfast, your guide will escort you back to Kigali.

Depending on your flight schedule, you have the opportunity to visit the Genocide Memorial and Education Center, which was established in 2004.

This site serves as a respectful homage to the victims, featuring a touching Children’s Memorial and an in-depth account of Rwanda's most tragic period, allowing you to return home on time.
