Route details
Your guide/driver will collect you from your hotel in Kigali, kicking off your day with a free city tour. Kigali, named in 1907 by Dr. Richard Kandt, the first colonial resident governor of Rwanda, is nestled among lush green hills and is often called 'the land of a thousand hills.'
You will explore various attractions, which may include the craft market and the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Center.
Following this, you will head to Musanze, Rwanda's second-largest town, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the five Virunga volcanic mountains.
Upon arrival at the Red Rocks Intercultural Exchange Center, you'll enjoy lunch before engaging with local brewers to learn about the process of making traditional banana beer. If you're intrigued, you can join the women in extracting juice from bananas and even enjoy a glass of fresh juice (optional). You'll also discover how long it takes for the juice to ferment into alcohol after adding sorghum flour.
Feel free to enjoy a glass of our local brew if you wish! The community also participates in basket weaving, an activity that provides financial support to local families. Later, you will return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Meal plan: Lunch and Dinner.

The hike to Mount Bisoke is a challenging one-day trek that requires good physical fitness, and it is recommended to hire a porter to help carry your water and daypack.
