The flight to Lukla is an exhilarating experience, providing an aerial view of the Himalayas. The flight takes approximately 30 minutes, during which you'll witness breathtaking mountain scenery.
The plane touches down at Tenzing-Hillary Airport.
As you step off the plane, you'll meet your trekking guide and porters. They will brief you on the trekking route, safety guidelines, and what to expect for the day.
Trek from Lukla to Phakding (2610 meters: 3-4 hours): The trek kicks off as you leave Lukla and start your descent. The trail initially descends gradually, providing a relatively easy start to your trekking journey. The trail winds through rhododendron and pine forests, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region. As you hike, you'll enjoy the crisp mountain air and the distant views of snow-capped peaks. Along the route, you'll cross several suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi River. These bridges are an iconic feature of the Everest Base Camp trek and add an adventurous element to the journey.
En route, you'll pass through picturesque villages like Chaurikharka and Ghat. These villages provide insights into the local culture and lifestyle of the Sherpa people. Here you will pause for your lunch. After lunch, you continue to trek to Phakding.
After 3 to 4 hours of trekking, you'll reach Phakding, a welcoming village situated beside the Dudh Kosi River. Check into a teahouse or lodge, where you'll spend the night and rest after the day's trek.
In the evening, you can explore Phakding, interact with other trekkers, and enjoy the tranquil ambiance of the village. Dinner will be served at the teahouse, providing you with a chance to taste the local cuisine.
