While prior climbing experience is not mandatory, it is highly recommended for Mera Peak. The climb is technically straightforward but requires good physical fitness and acclimatization to high altitudes. Basic mountaineering skills, such as using crampons, ice axes, and ropes, will be taught by your guide, but having some experience with high-altitude trekking or climbing will increase your chances of a successful summit.

It's important to know
Mountaineering Equipment:
This includes essential climbing gear such as mountaineering boots, crampons, ice axes, harness, helmet, and climbing ropes. These items are necessary for safe glacier travel, snow and ice climbing, and for negotiating steep sections of the route
Clothing:
Layered clothing appropriate for cold and variable weather conditions is crucial. This includes thermal base layers, insulating mid-layers, a windproof and waterproof outer shell, down or synthetic insulated jacket, trekking pants, warm hats, gloves, and socks. Additionally, gaiters can be useful for keeping snow out of your boots.
Backpack:
A sturdy and comfortable backpack with a capacity of around 40-50 liters is recommended. It should have straps to secure your climbing gear and space for carrying essentials such as water, snacks, extra clothing layers, sunscreen, and a camera.
Sleeping Bag:
A warm and lightweight sleeping bag rated for sub-zero temperatures is necessary for the overnight stays at high-altitude lodges or base camps.
Personal Gear:
Other personal items include a headlamp with spare batteries, sunglasses with UV protection, sunscreen with a high SPF, lip balm, a first aid kit, water purification tablets or filters, trekking poles, a water bottle or hydration system, and toiletries.
Food and Water:
Carry enough high-energy snacks and water to sustain yourself throughout the trek. Water can be replenished at lodges or by using a water purification system to treat natural water sources.
