Corsica’s southern GR20 is a trail of stone, wind, and sharp mountain light. This route takes you from Vizzavona to Conca along the classic southern stages of one of Europe’s most famous long-distance trails, with long hiking days, granite ridges, forest paths, high passes, and wide views stretching from the mountains to the sea.
The trek is made for experienced hikers who want a shorter but intense GR20 experience. Along the way, you may climb several 2000 m peaks, including Punta di l’Uriente, Monte Renosu, Punta Capella, and Monte Alcudina. The route crosses the Pozzi valley, the Usciolu and Cuscione plateaus, the Bavella Needles massif, and the maquis-covered slopes above southern Corsica. Some days offer route options depending on fitness and weather, from classic GR20 trails to more demanding summit variants.
Nights are spent in simple gîtes, mountain refuges, or tents, with meals provided during the trek. A local mountain guide leads the route, while luggage transport allows you to hike with a lighter daypack. This is a demanding trek with real mountain character, but the reward is Corsica at its most raw and memorable. Join this southern GR20 traverse and take on one of the island’s great walking routes!
