Route details

Day 1
Thredbo River Track

After a few hours of travel, we’ll stop for morning tea at a local cafe in Cooma and make a short visit to the Information Centre before continuing on to Thredbo. Upon arrival, we’ll check into our Lodge-style accommodation, enjoy lunch, and prepare for the first walk of the tour.

Today’s walk follows the Thredbo River from Dead Horse Gap back to Thredbo Village, along a well-marked trail beside the cascading, icy river. You’ll pass granite boulders surrounded by gum trees, cross footbridges over rushing water, and walk through snow gum woodlands with scenic views of the river. Watch the water closely – you may spot trout or even a platypus.

After returning to the lodge, unwind with pre-dinner nibbles followed by a delicious two-course meal prepared by your guides.
