Have you ever stood before an ancient landscape and felt the weight of time settle around you — silent, vast, eternal? If not, Cradle Mountain is where that moment awaits. In this wild heart of Tasmania, glacial valleys, weathered peaks, and moss-draped forests invite you to slow down, breathe deeper, and feel more alive than ever.
During four unforgettable days, you’ll hike through a world shaped by ice and time — along the Dove River boardwalk, across alpine ridgelines to Hansons Peak, past the mirrored stillness of Twisted Lakes, and through the fern-fringed beauty of Crater Falls. Discover hidden sanctuaries, spot wombats grazing in the buttongrass, and listen to the quiet hush of ancient forests that have stood unchanged for centuries.
After each day’s walk, return to the comfort of your bushland cabin, nestled on the edge of a World Heritage wilderness. Share stories and laughter over wine and nibbles, warm yourself by the gas log fire, and unwind in good company. With thoughtful guidance, nourishing meals, and an inviting atmosphere, this journey offers more than just hiking — it’s a time to connect, reflect, and rediscover joy in nature’s rhythm. Come walk with us — and let the mountains move something in you!

Route details
We depart Launceston at 7:45 am from the Hotel Grand Chancellor and begin our scenic drive towards Cradle Mountain. Along the way, we pass through the Mersey River valley and beneath the soaring escarpments of the Great Western Tiers, stopping for a morning tea break en route.
After arriving in Cradle Mountain village, we enjoy a relaxing lunch before setting off on our first walk — the Cradle Valley Boardwalk. Following the gentle course of the Dove River, this track leads us through buttongrass plains and alpine moorland rich in native flora, including the striking Tasmanian Waratah in bloom during early summer.
At Ronny Creek, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for wombats grazing on the plains before continuing to Waldheim Chalet — the rustic outpost of park pioneer Gustav Weindorfer. Here we take a short loop through enchanting myrtle beech and king billy pine forest.
If time and energy allow, we’ll finish the afternoon with a few short rainforest walks near the park entrance, discovering serene waterfalls and ancient trees. Then it's time to settle into our cozy accommodation and enjoy a welcome nibbles platter and hearty two-course dinner prepared by your guides.
