Where can you feel the sea breeze carry you into a world of rugged cliffs, ancient forests, and secret beaches? Right here, on an island where magic meets untamed nature just south of Hobart.

On day one, climb the wooden stairs to The Neck lookout and watch wallabies graze below. Feel the thrill of wandering ancient dunes and exploring Cape Bruny Lighthouse’s rugged cliffs. Next, where white sands meet wild surf at Cloudy Bay, you’ll hike through fragrant heath to East Cloudy Head, eyes fixed on the endless horizon and the promise of Antarctica beyond. By day three, you’ll be navigating sculpted granite at Fluted Cape, then ducking beneath dripping ferns in the hidden haven of Mavista Rainforest. Finally, wander past Big and Little Lagoons, spy oyster farms from Mars Bluff, and trace the gentle curves of Cape Queen Elizabeth’s dunes.

Each evening, settle into cosy lodge cabins nestled among native bush, sipping local tea as the sun dips. With hearty, home‑style meals, and wildlife encounters around every bend, this isn’t just a walk—it’s Bruny Island come alive. Lace up your boots, join us and let adventure find you!

Route details

Day 1
The Neck and Luggaboine Circuit

We depart the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart at 7:45am, heading south to Kettering to board the morning ferry to North Bruny. Along the way, there's a chance to stop by some local producers — perfect for picking up Bruny’s renowned honey, cheese, or craft beer if you wish.

Our first walk takes us up the iconic Neck Lookout via a wooden staircase. From this high vantage point, you’ll enjoy sweeping views across the island — your guides will point out key landmarks like Mt. Mangana, Cape Queen Elizabeth, and the stunning beach stretching below.

We then continue south to visit the historic Cape Bruny Lighthouse and take in the dramatic coastal scenery from the surrounding escarpment, with glimpses of Courts Island and the nesting areas of shearwaters at low tide.

To close the day, we enjoy a peaceful 1.5-hour circuit walk on the Labillardiere Peninsula. This scenic trail winds through open heath and past quiet, secluded beaches — a haven for native birdlife and a perfect introduction to the island’s natural beauty. After our walk, we settle into our accommodation at the rustic and characterful Bruny Island Lodge. Here, you’ll unwind with a delicious platter of local nibbles prepared by your guides.
