The Marangu Route, famously called the “Coca-Cola Route,” is the oldest and most established trail on Mount Kilimanjaro. It’s the only route offering hut accommodations, providing bunk beds, mattresses, and dining halls instead of tents. Lower huts have running water and flushing toilets, while higher ones offer basic long-drop facilities.
Known for its gentle slopes and direct path, Marangu is often considered the easiest way to the summit, yet its short duration makes acclimatization challenging. The route ascends and descends along the same trail, offering a familiar but less varied landscape.
The climb begins in lush rainforest, continues through heath and moorland, and leads across high-altitude desert to the snowy summit of Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Trekkers enjoy comfortable huts, nutritious meals, and guidance from experienced, certified mountain guides.
Perfect for those seeking a classic, comfortable, and social Kilimanjaro experience.
