Primates and Culture of Rwanda Safari

Following breakfast, you will head into the forest at dawn to search for chimpanzees. This early start provides the greatest chance to see our closest living relatives in their natural habitat.

Additionally, this time of day increases your likelihood of spotting various other wildlife and bird species in the park. In the afternoon, you'll return to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the evening, you'll go on a canopy walk, where you'll have the opportunity to observe different animal species and enjoy the stunning scenery. After the walk, you'll return to the lodge for dinner and spend the night there.

In the morning, you'll go on a picturesque journey north to Volcanoes National Park, located in present-day Musanze, contingent on the road conditions.

You can choose to drive alongside the stunning Lake Kivu, one of Rwanda's largest and most beautiful lakes that borders the Democratic Republic of Congo, or opt for an alternative route.

The journey is lengthy, but the winding roads enhance the experience with breathtaking views of the Great East African Rift Valley. Your guide will make stops for photos and allow breaks whenever you want to stretch.

After enjoying an early morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters with your packed lunch to receive a briefing on the guidelines for interacting with the gorillas. Following this, you will venture into the forest in search of the gorillas, which may take between 2 to 6 hours depending on their movements in the jungle. You will have the opportunity to spend up to one hour with the gorillas.

Afterward, you will visit the Gorilla Guardians Village (Ibyiwacu Cultural Village).

The Iby’iwacu cultural village stands out as one of Rwanda's premier cultural attractions. It showcases the country's diverse cultural traditions, people, and history all in one location for an immersive experience. International visitors can observe what life was like in a typical African village, including aspects such as lifestyle, housing, traditional dances, clothing, cuisine, medicinal herbs, and the organization of ancient kingdoms. Tourists are also invited to learn ancient hunting techniques and try their hand at weaving baskets or mats and carpentry. This unique experience has captivated many visitors eager to engage with the culture of Rwanda's indigenous community.

Following breakfast, head to the park headquarters for your initial encounter with endangered species in Volcanoes National Park.

The Golden Monkey trek is typically a straightforward hike lasting 1-2 hours.

Afterward, you will be transported to Kigali.
