Karisimbi Summit and Golden Monkeys Holiday

Following an early breakfast, you will be transported to the park headquarters in Kinigi for registration and a briefing before the hike conducted by a park ranger. You will join other hikers and be paired with a ranger guide. If needed, porters can assist with carrying additional luggage.

The trek will commence at the trailhead, leading you upward through the dense montane forest. You'll set up camp midway up the mountain, where a chef will prepare your meals for an overnight experience in the wilderness. Overnight: Mountain campsite on Karisimbi.

Begin your ascent early to conquer Mount Karisimbi, the tallest volcano in Rwanda at 4,507 meters.

Once you reach the summit, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the Virunga range, featuring the active volcanoes Nyiragongo and Nyamuragira, along with expansive forests and local communities below.

After enjoying the scenery and capturing some unforgettable photographs, start your descent back to the base, which will take most of the day. Your driver-guide will greet you at the trail's end and take you back to your lodge for the night, such as the Mountain Gorilla View Lodge or a similar accommodation.

Following breakfast, we'll go on a guided hike to observe the endangered golden monkeys. These lively and playful primates inhabit the bamboo forests on the lower slopes of the volcano.

After the trek, take a tour of the Gorilla Conservation Museum at the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.

Then, enjoy a picturesque drive back to Kigali, which takes about 2.5 to 3.5 hours. You will be dropped off at your hotel or at Kigali International Airport, marking the end of your adventure.
