East Africa Primates and Plains Adventure

At 4:30 AM, enjoy an early breakfast or opt for a packed breakfast. Following this, you'll meet with the ranger guide at Gisakura before transferring to either the Cyamudongo or Uwinka visitor center to start your chimpanzee tracking adventure.

Afterward, there will be a canopy walk beginning at the Uwinka visitor center, after which you'll transfer to Lake Kivu in Cyangungu.

You'll spend the night at Emeraude Kivu Resort or a similar accommodation.

Following an early breakfast, we'll go on a journey along the lakeside to the breathtaking Virunga mountains, which mark the borders of Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. This region is home to half of the world's Mountain Gorilla population, while the other half resides in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda. Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda is regarded as one of the premier locations for gorilla trekking, with ticket prices often doubling or even tripling compared to other trekking sites.

Lunch will be enjoyed along the way at Lake Kivu before checking into Volcanoes National Park.

Overnight accommodations will be at Gorillas Hotel or a similar establishment.

To take part in the Rwanda Gorilla Trekking today, you need to purchase a Gorilla Trekking ticket for an additional fee of $1,500, or you can opt for the alternative Bosoke Volcano Hike.

After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing on the trekking. Following this, you'll hike into the rainforest to find a troop of stunning mountain gorillas. Each troop is monitored by a 24-hour guard, ensuring their location is known, and you'll typically spend an hour with them, allowing for close observation.

After your experience, you will return to the lodge for the night, staying at Gorillas Hotel or a similar accommodation.

Following an early breakfast, head back to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for the Golden Monkey Trekking. This trek can be scheduled for before noon or by 1 PM at the latest, after which you will transfer to Bwindi/Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in preparation for the Uganda Gorilla Trekking Experience.

Spend the night at Travelers Rest Hotel or a similar accommodation.

Following an early morning breakfast, you'll head to the ranger station for a briefing on the guidelines for interacting with gorillas.

After this, a senior ranger guide will accompany you as you hike into the forest in search of these magnificent creatures. Once located, you’ll have the opportunity to spend an hour with them.

After this unforgettable experience, you'll return to the lodge for the night at Travelers Rest Hotel or a similar establishment.

After breakfast, head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is inhabited by elephants, lions, hippos, buffalo, and baboons. Enjoy game drives this afternoon and the following day.

As you explore, keep an eye out for the rare tree-climbing lions, a unique sight not often found elsewhere in Africa. You’ll also have the chance to observe some of Uganda’s largest elephant herds, along with groups of buffalo and numerous antelopes.

Spend the night at Bush Lodge.

After an early breakfast, we'll go on a morning game drive.

Travel through the Kasenyi Plains, a prime location for observing predators in action. This game drive offers a wonderful chance to see various animals, including jackals, bushbucks, forest hogs, buffaloes, elephants, and kob as they engage in their daily activities.

In the afternoon, enjoy an exciting boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, where you can spot stunning birds and wildlife. This boat safari will certainly allow you to encounter these fascinating creatures.

After the boat excursion, take advantage of the evening to view more wildlife on your way back to the lodge. Spend the night at Bush Lodge or a similar accommodation.

After enjoying an early morning breakfast, you'll head to Kyambura Gorge to track chimpanzees in the stunning gorge located on the eastern side of the park, just 35 kilometers from the lodge. This area is rich in wildlife, including various primates found in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It serves as a vital water source for many animals and is surrounded by savanna, but is particularly recognized for its dense population of primates within the gorge.

In addition to chimpanzees, you can also spot red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, baboons, and vervet monkeys. The gorge is renowned for its diverse bird species, which include different types of falcons, the blue-headed bee-eater, and the African Finfoot.

Following this adventure, you will transfer to Lake Mburo National Park for an overnight stay at Rwakobo Rock or a similar accommodation.

We will start with a walking safari, which offers a fantastic opportunity to observe wildlife in Lake Mburo. Without the distraction of a motor engine, you can hear much more and truly immerse yourself in nature. You’ll likely encounter a variety of animals, including warthogs, topis, impalas, duikers, bushbucks, waterbucks, and zebras.

Keep in mind that the time of year and weather conditions can influence the number and types of animals you see, as they tend to graze where the grass is most appealing. Observing wildlife on foot is incredibly tranquil and provides a completely different experience compared to a game drive; zebras may even approach you out of curiosity about the unusual creature without stripes.

Afterward, you will return to the lodge for breakfast, followed by a transfer back to Kigali, Rwanda, marking the conclusion of your adventure. Your guide will drop you off at your chosen hotel or take you to the airport for your overnight flight home. The end.
