On the second day, we rise early to greet the dawn. This day is dedicated to exploring the awe-inspiring site of Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas.
We will start with a morning journey from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, ensuring we arrive at the citadel as the gates open. This timing allows us to experience the quiet majesty of the site before the crowds arrive.
Machu Picchu Guided Tour:
Our exploration begins with a guided tour, where we will delve into the history, architecture, and mysteries of Machu Picchu. We will walk among the ancient stone structures, visiting key areas such as the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, and the Sacred SunDial, known as the Intihuatana. Our knowledgeable guides will share insights into the Incan civilization and the significance of each site within this mountain-top sanctuary.
After the guided tour, there will be free time for further exploration. This is the perfect opportunity to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (subject to permit availability), offering panoramic views of the ruins and surrounding landscape.
In the afternoon, we will return to Aguas Calientes. From there, we take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then a bus to Cusco. Our journey concludes as we arrive in Cusco in the evening, filled with memories of the incredible sights and insights gained over these two days.
