High above the valley floor, where the wind hums through frozen ridges and the air feels lighter, lies Rob Rosa Hut — perched in the heart of the Pisa Range at over 1700 metres. From here, endless white slopes roll out in every direction, catching sunlight, shadow, and the tracks of those lucky enough to reach them.

This trip begins in Wānaka, with a gear check and a short flight that sweeps over the Southern Alps before landing deep in the backcountry. Your hut awaits — warm, remote, and ready for adventure. From long, flowing ridgelines to steep, rock-walled chutes, the Pisa Range offers a playground for every skier. Over four days, you’ll tour wide bowls, trace untouched snow, and learn the rhythm of true backcountry life — where the mountain decides your plan and powder rewards your patience.

With light packs, a private alpine hut, and expert guidance, every day here is its own discovery. Join us, fly in, ski free, and carve your line across the vast white silence of the Pisa Range!

Public Group 1:4: $2,350 per person (minimum numbers required to confirm). Enquire for private trips.

Route details

Day 1
Into the Pisa Range

This is a sample itinerary and can change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Please use it as a guide.

Meet your guide at our Wānaka office at 5:30pm on the evening before departure. Your guide will check your clothing and equipment to make sure you have everything needed for the four-day trip. Rental gear can be arranged, and last-minute purchases made. Plans are finalised for an early start the next morning.

The following morning, meet again at 8:00am for a complete gear check before heading to Wānaka Airport. From there, we take a scenic flight over the Pisa Range and surrounding mountains. Our packs are kept light since sleeping bags, cooking gear, and other essentials are already waiting for us at the hut. After dropping off our gear, we jump straight into the local terrain — from long, gentle ridgelines to steeper chutes that cover the area. Everyone can find runs that match their comfort and pace.
