The climb to Mount Toubkal begins far below the summit, among red earth, walnut groves, Berber villages, and mule paths that have crossed the High Atlas for generations.
This guided trek takes you from Marrakech into the Ourika Valley, then higher through terraced fields, pine forests, mountain passes, and quiet villages such as Tachdirt and Imlil. Each day brings you closer to North Africa’s highest peak, with steady ascents, wide ridgelines, and time to adapt to the altitude. The summit climb starts before dawn, when the mountains are still dark and cold. At 4,167 metres, the reward is a powerful view across the Atlas range and the plains of Marrakech.
The route is non-technical but demanding, best suited for strong walkers with mountain experience. Main luggage is carried by mules, so you trek with a daypack only. Nights are spent in a riad or 3-star hotel in Marrakech, village guesthouse, bivouac camps, and one night at the Toubkal Refuge. Join this trek and stand on the highest point in North Africa!
