Laos Landscapes: Cycling From Luang Prabang to Vientiane

Meals are included as per the itinerary that we have mentioned. Most meals are local and feature noodles, rice, curries, and soups.

Sticky rice is the national staple of Laos and is served with every meal. It has become a traditional way to eat, as meals are typically eaten with the hands rather than utensils. Sticky rice is often used as a scooping device to pick up other foods, making it an integral part of the Laotian cuisine.

While traveling with us, you will have the opportunity to not just experience the wide variety of wonderful food available in Cambodia but also get to try some of it too. Your guide will be able to suggest some great restaurants for you to try during your trip.

If you have any specific food requirements (vegetarian, vegan, or food allergies), please inform us in advance so that we can provide a notice to the restaurant or hotel where you will be served.

Keeping you hydrated is one of the most important parts of our tours. We provide cold water, as well as local fruit and soft drinks to keep you energized and refreshed during your trip. Beers and alcoholic drinks are freely available everywhere but are not included in the price.

There are no required vaccinations for Laos. However, you might want to think about being vaccinated against tuberculosis, rabies, tetanus, cholera, typhoid, and hepatitis A and B. Malaria is also a remote possibility. Ask your doctor or a travel clinic for advice on the best course of action for all of the aforementioned concerns.

Additionally, dengue fever, a tropical viral disease spread by daytime biting mosquitoes, is a known risk in places visited. There is currently no vaccine or prophylaxis available; therefore, we recommend you take the usual precautions to avoid mosquito bites.

Laos typically experiences hot and humid weather throughout the year with temperatures ranging from 28°C to 34°C during the day. The temperature usually drops at night, and during winter months in the mountains, it can sometimes even dip as low as 10 °C. Despite its tropical location, Laos can still get surprisingly cold due to its high altitude.

The climate of the region is mostly dry during the period between October to April, while the rainy season tends to start in May to September. During this period, heavy downpours are common, but with brief periods of bright sunshine in between.

Travel insurance is not included in the tour price. You can arrange travel insurance with your preferred insurance company. As medical facilities in Cambodia are rather limited, it is imperative for you to take out a good medical insurance policy when traveling.

All travelers from the UK, US, and EU countries require a visa prior to traveling to Laos. It is highly recommended that you double-check the visa requirements before you start your travels, as they can often change without warning. As a traveler, it is your responsibility to acquire any visas that may be needed for entering Laos on this trip.

Consequently, it is highly recommended to check with the nearest embassy or consulate of your chosen destination(s), including any countries you may be passing through or transferring to, before planning your trip to ensure you are aware of any potential caveats that may arise.

On most trips, we offer non-riding options for riders who want to take the afternoon off, or for travel companions who want to spend little or no time in the saddle. Some of these options may need to be scheduled before your trip–please contact one of our Travel Specialists for more information. Expenses and/or related transportation for these activities may not be included in the trip price.

You will be led by a local English-speaking guide and if the group is 12 people or more we will add another guide to the tour. All our tour guides are well informed in the history, culture and religions of the area where you are biking and are skilled at passing that knowledge on to you. Your guide is also medically trained and an experienced cyclist, pursuing great experiences and making every tour exceptional.
