The Matterhorn Short Hike is the perfect adventure for those who dream of seeing the most iconic mountain in the world — the Matterhorn, or Cervino in Italian.
With its unmistakable pyramid shape, this legendary peak dominates the skyline of the Alps and has inspired climbers and travelers for generations.

During this 2-day adventure in Aosta Valley, you’ll hike through forests, alpine meadows, and rocky highlands to reach panoramic viewpoints offering spectacular vistas of Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, Mont Blanc, and Gran Paradiso.

Your night will be spent in a cozy unguarded hut, immersed in silence and surrounded by stars. For extra comfort, a luxury version with a 4-star mountain hotel and SPA can also be arranged.

A short yet unforgettable escape into the land of alpine giants.

Unguarded Hut

The Unguarded Hut is the more adventurous and suggestive option. It’s like a small one-room house in the middle of the mountains, usually located at more than 2,500 meters (about 8,000 feet). Moreover, it’s the cheapest option, so if you are hiking alone or want to limit costs, this will be the best choice. Most of the experienced trekkers who come with me, as well as young people on their first mountain adventure, often choose this option. It can also be a very nice experience for children, especially for a single night.

Sleeping in an unguarded hut is a bit like comfortable camping, but with the big advantage that all unguarded huts (bivacchi in Italian) have beds, blankets, and pillows. They usually also have a table where you can sit, play cards, and eat together.

In the unguarded hut, there is no toilet or shower, and you’ll need to bring your own sleeping bag. The food is usually cooked by me, but I’ll need your help to carry it up, as nothing is sold up there.
