The Robinet Peak Hiking Tour offers a stunning alpine escape just north of Turin. Orsiera National Park combines wilderness, forests, rocky slopes, and alpine lakes, making it ideal for a two-day adventure. You’ll experience majestic landscapes, wildlife sightings—often ibexes grazing near the peak—and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the northern Alps.

Depending on the season, overnight options include the Balma Hut (heated and comfortable) or, in summer, the small chapel near Robinet Peak for a more adventurous night under the stars. The trail passes scenic lakes such as Sottano and Soprano, with optional ascent to the peak (2679 m) when conditions allow. Even if the peak is not reached, the experience is unforgettable.

The Unguarded Hut is the more adventurous and suggestive option. It’s like a small one-room house in the middle of the mountains, usually located at more than 2,500 meters (about 8,000 feet). Moreover, it’s the cheapest option, so if you are hiking alone or want to limit costs, this will be the best choice. Most of the experienced trekkers who come with me, as well as young people on their first mountain adventure, often choose this option. It can also be a very nice experience for children, especially for a single night.

Sleeping in an unguarded hut is a bit like comfortable camping, but with the big advantage that all unguarded huts (bivacchi in Italian) have beds, blankets, and pillows. They usually also have a table where you can sit, play cards, and eat together.

In the unguarded hut, there is no toilet or shower, and you’ll need to bring your own sleeping bag. The food is usually cooked by me, but I’ll need your help to carry it up, as nothing is sold up there.
