The Trekking to Cala Luna is one of Sardinia’s most beloved excursions — a perfect blend of wild landscapes, coastal views, and the legendary beauty of Cala Luna Beach, famous for its golden sand, turquoise waters, and towering cave arches.
Starting from Orosei, we travel by 4WD to Dorgali and then descend toward Cala Gonone, where your guide will choose between two stunning routes: Buchi Arta or Cala Fuili, depending on the season and group fitness. The trail winds through Codula di Luna, a dramatic canyon carved by rushing waters over thousands of years, surrounded by limestone walls and lush oleanders.
At the end of the trek, you’ll reach the breathtaking Cala Luna, a beach so perfect it seems painted — amber sand, emerald sea, and shaded caves where time stands still. Depending on the season, the return can be done on foot or by boat, allowing you to admire the Gulf of Orosei from a different perspective.

Route details
Meet your guide in Orosei at 8:00 AM, where your 4WD transfer will take you on a scenic one-hour drive to the trailhead near Cala Gonone. After a safety briefing and route overview, begin your hike through the Codula valley, following dry riverbeds and ancient shepherd paths beneath towering rock faces.
You’ll stop for breaks along the way to enjoy panoramic views of the Supramonte cliffs and listen to the sounds of Sardinia’s wilderness. After about four hours of hiking, the path opens to the shimmering beauty of Cala Luna Beach. Enjoy your packed lunch, a swim in crystal-clear waters, or explore the natural caves carved into the cliffs.
Depending on the group and season, the return can be by foot or by sea (dinghy or motorboat, optional). In some cases, the day can conclude with a traditional Sardinian lunch at the “Su Neulagi” restaurant or a shepherd’s meal at an ovile. Arrival back in Orosei is expected around 5:00 PM.
