The Mountain Photography Workshop is designed for those who want to combine their love for nature and photography in a truly spectacular alpine setting. Guided by an expert photographer and mountain guide, you’ll learn to capture mountain light, compose striking landscapes, and master your camera’s creative functions.

The Stretta Valley, at the Italian–French border, offers the perfect natural studio — wide meadows, forests, and dramatic peaks that change color with every hour of the day. The relaxed walking pace allows time to experiment, shoot, and receive personal guidance while surrounded by pristine alpine beauty.

You’ll also enjoy an authentic mountain experience, staying in a shelter, unguarded hut, or tent, depending on the season. Whether it’s sunset over the ridges or stars above the valley, this weekend will leave you with stunning images and lifelong memories.

Unguarded Hut

The Unguarded Hut is the more adventurous and suggestive option. It’s like a small one-room house in the middle of the mountains, usually located at more than 2,500 meters (about 8,000 feet). Moreover, it’s the cheapest option, so if you are hiking alone or want to limit costs, this will be the best choice. Most of the experienced trekkers who come with me, as well as young people on their first mountain adventure, often choose this option. It can also be a very nice experience for children, especially for a single night.

Sleeping in an unguarded hut is a bit like comfortable camping, but with the big advantage that all unguarded huts (bivacchi in Italian) have beds, blankets, and pillows. They usually also have a table where you can sit, play cards, and eat together.

In the unguarded hut, there is no toilet or shower, and you’ll need to bring your own sleeping bag. The food is usually cooked by me, but I’ll need your help to carry it up, as nothing is sold up there.
