The Monte Rosa Piedmont Trek takes you to the southern face of Monte Rosa, Italy’s second-highest mountain and one of the true giants of the Alps. This side is far less known than the Aosta Valley routes — making it a hidden treasure for real mountain lovers.
Our goal is the Barba Ferrero Shelter, a cozy mountain lodge perfectly set under the towering glaciers and 4000-meter peaks of Monte Rosa. The climb to the hut is a true mountain adventure: a steady ascent through forests, rocky slopes, and high alpine pastures with breathtaking views all along the way.
The following day offers several options — from a gentle exploration around the valley to an ascent to the Guglielmina Shelter (3260 m) for an incredible panorama of the Monte Rosa massif. This second option is demanding and perfect for hikers who want to push their limits.
