Corsica’s GR20 is a trail with teeth: granite underfoot, wind on the ridges, cold blue lakes below the passes, and long days that leave no room for pretending. This full route from Bonifatu to Conca crosses the island from north to south, following more than 180 km through the wildest part of Corsica’s mountain spine.
The trek begins near Calvi and quickly enters the serious northern terrain: Ortu di Piobbu, Carozzu, the granite slabs above Ascu, the Monte Cintu massif, Paglia Orba, Lac de Ninu, Petra Piana, and the Monte d’Oru massif. From Vizzavona, the route continues south through Capanelle, Prati, Usciolu, the Cuscione plateau, Asinau, the Bavella Needles, and finally down to Conca. Optional ascents may include Monte Cintu, Paglia Orba, Monte d’Oru, Punta di l’Uriente, Monte Renosu, Punta Capella, Punta Furmicula, and Monte Alcudina, with views reaching across Corsica, Sardinia, and the sea.
Nights are spent in gîtes, refuges, bivouacs, or tents along the trail. Meals are provided, luggage support helps keep your pack lighter, and a local guide leads the way through technical terrain and changing mountain weather. This is the GR20 in its full, demanding form — join the traverse if you are ready to meet Corsica on foot, from its northern forests to its southern coast!
