Corsica’s GR20 feels like a line drawn across the island by rock, wind, and stubborn mountain paths. From Bonifatu to Conca, this full traverse crosses the island’s rugged spine: northern granite slabs and chains, high lakes, exposed ridges, forest valleys, and the warmer, wilder landscapes of the south.

This trek is made for experienced hikers who want the complete GR20, not a shortened version. The route begins near Calvi, climbs through the Spasimata cirque to Lac de la Muvrella, crosses the Monte Cintu massif, and follows the Golu River towards Lac de Ninu. Further on, the trail passes the lakes of Capitellu and Melu, Bergeries de l’Onda, Vizzavona, Capanelle, Bocca di Verdi, Usciolu, the Cuscione plateau, Bavella, and finally Conca. Optional ascents may include Monte Cintu, Paglia Orba, Monte d’Oru, Punta di l’Uriente, Monte Renosu, Punta Capella, Punta Furmicula, and Monte Alcudina.

Nights are spent in gîtes, refuges, bivouacs, or tents along the route, with meals provided and luggage transfers helping you keep your pack lighter. This is a serious mountain trek with long days, rough terrain, and changing weather, but also one of the most memorable ways to cross Corsica. Join this full GR20 traverse and walk the island from the northern forests to the southern coast!

Tour provider's comments

Difficulty: (4.5 / 5) – Extremely challenging

Key Difficulty Factors:

Technical Terrain: Rocky, uneven paths, steep ascents/descents, scree, and sections with chains and ladders, especially in the northern section.

Physical Demands: 180 km with over 10,000 m of cumulative ascent and descent; 6–8 hours of hiking daily carrying a weighted pack.

Mental Fortitude: Navigating loose rocks, landslides, strong winds, and sudden storms requires focus and adaptability.

The GR20 demands excellent physical fitness, mental resilience, and prior mountain trekking experience.
