Imagine a world without signal, without rush—only you, your skis, and the vast frozen wilderness of Lapland unfolding before your eyes. This hut-to-hut expedition takes you deep into the Arctic backcountry of North-West Finnish Lapland, where snow-covered plateaus, towering fells, and endless silence define the landscape.

Starting from Kilpisjärvi, you’ll travel above the treeline across remote valleys and open tundra, carrying only what you need and guided by the rhythm of your skis. Each day leads you further into Finland’s wildest terrain, where solitude is absolute and the only company is your group, the wind, and perhaps the flicker of the Northern Lights overhead. The highlight of the journey is the ascent of Halti, Finland’s highest peak at 1,324m, where sweeping views stretch into Norway and Sweden.

Nights are spent in simple wilderness huts, though rustic, these shelters provide everything you need after a day in the elements—and for the adventurous, the option to try Arctic camping remains close at hand. This is your chance to step away from modern life and embrace a once-in-a-lifetime Arctic challenge. The Halti expedition is designed for those who crave adventure, connection with nature, and the raw beauty of the far north. Dare to step into the Arctic wild, where the noise of modern life fades and nothing remains but silence, solitude, and the pure white expanse ahead? Join us on this expedition!

Tour provider's comments

Requires good physical fitness, some skiing experience, and hiking familiarity.
Distance: 15–22 km per day, approx. 110–120 km total

Regular hikers and skiers with a basic outdoor sense will manage well. You need to have at least good fitness and an open, positive, team-oriented attitude. Previous overnight ski touring is helpful but not essential.

Polar Night (December - February): Difficulty 4/5 due to limited daylight, extreme temperatures, and solitude.

• Spring (Late February - May): Difficulty 3/5 with longer daylight hours and slightly milder conditions. Expect more people in late April’s high season.
