The forest here doesn’t feel like scenery — it feels like a space you move through slowly, step by step, as it changes around you. One day it’s sandy ridges and quiet lakes, the next — deep river valleys or open water between steep canyon walls.
You begin in Syöte National Park, riding fat bikes along high eskers and through old pine forests, then switch to hiking — through wetlands, past small lakes, and up to viewpoints over the fells. In Oulanka National Park, the pace picks up as you raft downstream, moving from calm stretches into whitewater. Back in the Syöte area, you walk with huskies through forest trails, each dog pulling you forward, alert to every sound. Later, near Kuusamo, you sit quietly at dusk, watching for brown bears in their own territory. The journey ends in Hossa National Park, paddling across Julma-Ölkky, Finland’s largest canyon lake, surrounded by steep rock walls and clear water.
The route is fully organised — transfers, guides, equipment — but the days don’t feel structured in a rigid way. You stay in a log cabin or hotel, return each evening to sauna, delicious meals, and space to reset. If you want a week where every day is different but still connected, come and experience it!
