Then, set off on a 2.5-hour hike through volcanic landscapes, where every step reveals stunning ocean views, culminating in the quaint fishing village of Cruzinha.

Route details

Begin your walk in Ponta do Sol, a colorful waterfront fishing village. Follow a spectacular cliffside road overlooking the ocean before continuing along a narrow, winding route carved into the mountainside. This path, surrounded by dramatic valleys, leads to the picturesque village of Fontainhas—listed by National Geographic as one of the world’s most scenic villages.

From there, descend steeply onto a pedestrian trail that passes through Corvo, Formiguinhas, and Aranhas. Continue to Praia das Aranhas, a striking black-sand beach and turtle-nesting site, where swimming is possible depending on sea conditions. It’s an ideal spot to rest and enjoy a picnic by the shore.

Afterwards, begin a 2.5-hour coastal hike between volcanic rocks and the ocean, taking in impressive views all the way to Cruzinha, a small fishing village with sweeping coastal scenery. At the end of this memorable day, relax on the transfer back to your accommodation.
