Route details

This hike runs from Vila Nova Sintra to Sorno and São Pedro before returning to Vila Nova Sintra. It captures the essence of Brava: the remote valley of Sorno with its ingenious use of a small stream to irrigate green terraces climbing the mountainsides; the striking, sometimes brooding sea; the stark, barren peaks; and the quiet ghost villages that hint at a more vibrant past. At times, Fogo Island appears dramatically across the water.

You’ll be picked up from your accommodation or the harbour and transferred to Nova Sintra to begin the walk. Suitable for anyone with average fitness, the tour ends with drop-off back at your accommodation.
