Route details

After pickup from your accommodation in São Filipe, transfer to Fogo Natural Park and meet your guide in Chã das Caldeiras at 1,730 meters. Begin the hike through fig, vine, apple, and pear trees while learning about the region’s geology and the recent eruption that covered the area in lava.

Your expert guide will set a pace suited to your abilities as you ascend for 3–4 hours to the summit at 2,829 meters, Cape Verde's highest peak. From the top, enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views, with a chance to glimpse other islands on clear days. Take a well-deserved break and enjoy the sensation of being above the clouds.

After a picnic, descend by running down the lava ash before returning to São Filipe for drop-off at your accommodation.
