Discover Kyustendil – one of Bulgaria’s oldest cities, just a scenic trip from Sofia or Plovdiv. With over 8,000 years of settlement history and nearly 2,000 years as an urban center, Kyustendil is a treasure trove of culture and tradition. Nestled in Western Bulgaria, this regional hub is famed as the “Orchard of Bulgaria”, thanks to its lush fruit-growing region. Visitors can relax in its healing mineral springs, explore remarkable archaeological sites, and enjoy the authentic charm of a city where nature, history, and wellness come together.

Route details

Day 1
Into the Wild – Hike to Peak Viden and Canyon Wonders

Your adventure begins early in the morning. At 07:00, travelers from Plovdiv will be welcomed by our team at the designated Green Valleys meeting point in front of the Hotel Princess (Trimoncium). Guests from Sofia will be greeted at 09:00 at Inter Expo Center – Tsarigradsko shose Metro Station, or at a pre-arranged location.

After a scenic transfer, we arrive in the Strazhite region, where our hiking trek begins. The first stretch leads to the peaceful hamlet of Laparovtsi, part of the village of Crvenyanot, reached in about 40 minutes. Following a brief rest, we continue through the forested paths to a television station viewpoint, and then on to the tour’s highlight: Peak Viden (1,487 m / 4,878 ft). After a final 20-minute ascent, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views and a tranquil picnic in the heart of Konyavska Mountain.

After relaxing on the peak, we descend back to our starting point (~1 hour trek) and board the bus for our next destination – the stunning Shegawa River Canyon. This natural rock phenomenon offers an inspiring walk through a unique geological landscape.

As the day winds down, we take a short transfer to Kyustendil, where we check in at the hotel. Enjoy some free time, then unwind over dinner in the hotel, soaking in the calm ambiance and preparing for a cultural journey the next day.
