On the second day, we set off to reach the panoramic Ivan Vazov Peak at 2669 m, followed by a descent back to the Rila Lakes Hut. A final chairlift ride brings us to the bus for our return. Route details
The tour begins with an early morning pickup from Sofia (08:00) or Plovdiv (07:00), followed by a scenic transfer to Panichishte resort. From there, a chairlift takes you to the Rila Lakes Hut at 2081 m.
The snowshoe hike to Ivan Vazov Hut starts here, covering 8 km with a 539 m elevation gain over approximately 5 hours. Along the way, enjoy a peaceful picnic surrounded by the mountain’s winter beauty. After a short rest, the journey continues to Ivan Vazov Hut, where you'll check in and enjoy a warm dinner in a traditional alpine setting, followed by free time to relax.

It's important to know
Please wear comfortable hiking three-season shoes, warm clothes, bring dry food, water, raincoate.
- Geta for the feet.
- Stocks (with wide circles).
- Thermal underwear – top and bottom.
- Gloves – a pair of thin and a pair of winter (warm and waterproof), plus spare.
- Warm hat.
- Scarf or wind mask, buff.
- Ski mask – for bad weather.
- Flashlight
- Personal first aid kit.
- Windproof and waterproof jacket.
- Extra garment (fleece).
- Water bottle at least 1 liter.
- Hat/towel, sunscreen and sunglasses, raincoat.
