Route details
The adventure begins early in the morning. At 06:30, our team welcomes guests in Sofia behind Alexander Nevski Cathedral. Those departing from Plovdiv meet us at 08:30 in front of the Princess (Trimoncium) Hotel. Pickup from alternative locations can be arranged in advance. The journey to the starting point—Septemvri Station—takes around two and a half hours. From there, we board the charming narrow-gauge train for a two-hour ride through breathtaking scenery to Avramovo Station, standing proudly at 1267 meters, the highest train station on the Balkan Peninsula.
Upon arrival, we begin our hike, following a scenic route with gentle elevation gains. A peaceful picnic break in nature allows us to soak in the mountain tranquility. Recharged, we ascend to Veliytsa Peak at 1712 meters, where spectacular views reward the effort. After taking in the vistas, we continue our hike downhill to the picturesque village of Ortsevo, nestled at 1555 meters above sea level. There, we check into a local guesthouse and enjoy a delicious dinner in a traditional mountain setting, with time to relax and take in the village atmosphere.

Travelers should have a moderate to good level of physical fitness.
