Some landscapes feel less like places on a map and more like gateways to another world. The Gosau Valley, cradled between soaring limestone peaks, is one of them. Here, ancient forests and glittering lakes draw a natural frame around the mighty Dachstein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has inspired wanderers for centuries.
Your journey begins with a gentle introduction — panoramic trails above the valley and tranquil lakeside paths. Soon, you ascend to the Zwieselalm, where alpine huts cling to meadows and views stretch all the way to Austria’s highest summits. Each stage reveals a new character: rugged limestone walls beneath the Hoher Dachstein, quiet pastures dotted with hay barns, and hidden caves once used as secret places of worship. Evenings are spent in welcoming mountain huts and village inns, where a warm meal and the silence of the highlands deepen the sense of retreat.
This tour mixes accessible hiking with striking alpine drama, offering both comfort and discovery. Whether you seek the thrill of mountain ridges or the calm of a valley sunset, the Dachstein’s western slopes invite you to walk, rest, and rediscover the joy of moving at nature’s pace. Join us, and let the Gosau mountains guide your steps!
