Vietnam to Cambodia Cycling Adventure

Today, after a quick 2-hour transfer to the Mekong, you will board a local ferry to Ben Tre, renowned as the Coconut Kingdom and home to lush nursery gardens. Once there, you can hop on your bikes and enjoy a vibrant display of colors as you ride past picturesque riverside homes and villages that dot the delta. The local economy revolves around coconuts, which are integral to their culture. As you navigate bridges and meander along winding roads, you’ll be captivated by the breathtaking scenery. Next, we’ll take a sampan (traditional boat) through narrow canals before boarding a ferry for a refreshing ride across the expansive Co Chien River.

Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant, followed by cycling along the well-known water coconut trails. The day will conclude with a ferry crossing from the main channel of the Mekong River to Tra Vinh town, where you'll spend the night in the city center.

This morning, we will go on an exciting adventure to discover the stunning natural scenery and distinctive Khmer architecture and culture of the area. Departing from Tra Vinh City, we will cycle a short distance to witness the awe-inspiring Ba Om Pond, an 800-year-old Khmer architectural gem. This remarkable site is famous for its seasonal lotus flowers and promises to be a highlight of our trip. Along the way, we will encounter rice paddies and coconut trees that stretch across the horizon, creating a spectacular view perfect for a photo opportunity. This region is known as Vietnam's second-largest rice producer.

After lunch, we will take approximately an hour to transfer to a hotel in Can Tho, where you can unwind and enjoy the vibrant nightlife and rooftop views from downtown restaurants. Don’t miss the chance to explore its famous night markets!

After that, we’ll navigate the Mekong’s canal system, observing some of the waterways used for transporting boats during the Vietnam War.

Following our canal exploration, we’ll cycle along the river on quiet, paved roads, enjoying stunning views of the region's lush fruit gardens that harmoniously blend with the scenic countryside paths. Along the way, we’ll make a brief transfer to your hotel in Rach Gia.

Today, we will go on a brief van ride to the Southern Kingdom of Vietnam, a region recognized for its significance over the past 2000 years. Our first stop will be a local museum that highlights the area's history and the cultural relevance of its jewel production. Many residents still take pride in their ancestral legacy as rulers of the South.

After having a range of unique cultural experiences, we will cycle toward Chau Doc. Due to the region's annual flooding, there are now fewer local routes through the rice fields compared to when we used to cycle here.

Following this enjoyable experience, lunch will be provided before you hop back on your bikes for an overnight stay in Chau Doc City.

After breakfast, your day will begin with a leisurely cyclo ride along the Boulevard to the Independence Monument. During the journey, you'll be treated to stunning views of Phnom Penh from the riverside and will make several stops to capture photos of the Riverfront and the Royal Palace.

Next, you’ll explore the magnificent Royal Palace, an impressive complex that serves as the official residence of the King of Cambodia. Take in the awe-inspiring architecture, admire the intricate decorations, and learn about Cambodian culture and art. Within the palace grounds, you’ll discover the Silver Pagoda, which features an extraordinary collection of Buddha statues and a floor made up of over 5,000 silver tiles.

Then, you’ll proceed to the National Museum, known as Musee des Beaux-Arts. Designed in Khmer style by French archaeologist and painter Georges Groslier in 1917, the museum showcases a vast collection of Khmer art, particularly sculptures, from various periods.

During our journey, we'll make stops to explore traditional village crafts and gain insight into the authentic Cambodian lifestyle here. We'll delve into Cambodia's silk weaving heritage, wander through tranquil villages, and unwind by the banks of the Mekong River.

After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, we'll continue our journey by van to Kampong Thom Province.

This morning, we bike through remote villages to reach the ancient temple site of Sambor Prey Kuk, which was built in the 7th century and served as the capital of the Chenla Empire. As one of Cambodia's oldest temple sites, it is primarily enveloped by jungle.

Following our guided exploration of the temples, we savor a picnic lunch prepared by the local community in quaint wooden huts around the temple complex, taking in the local sights and sounds.

After lunch, we continue our ride through rice fields and small villages, where locals greet us as we pass. We then board our van for a three-hour journey to Siem Reap and Angkor.
