Route details

Day 1
Mountain Trekking and Overnight Stay at a Homestay

At 08:30 am we will meet you at your hotel in Chiang Mai. We will then drive north, making a stop at a local market where your guide will explain the ingredients used in cooking.

Our next destination is a serene valley further north, marking the beginning of our trek. After a brief orientation, we will set off on a one-hour hike, stopping for lunch at a fruit orchard. As we continue our ascent, we will notice a significant change in the flora. Following a section through a bamboo forest, we will arrive at a sprawling tea plantation, shaded by towering, mature trees.

The final stretch of the trail leads us to a local homestay where we will spend the night. Tonight, your guides will prepare dinner, and we may unwind by the campfire. Today's hike covers approximately 5 hours (7 km), predominantly uphill.

Meals: lunch and dinner.

We had a fantastic 3- day trek with just the two of us and our guide Sap, who was great, fun and very knowledgeable. Sap taught us a lot about the various trees, plants and the local culture - I would like to say wildlife too, but there sadly wasn’t a lot to be seen, apparently due to over hunting. It certainly was off-the- beaten track and we only saw a few locals on the whole trek. The countryside, the views and especially the sunsets were stunning. The trekking was quite strenuous at times on tiny trails through the forests, but Sap kept a manageable pace with plenty of time to stop and enjoy the amazing views. The food (also cooked by Sap) was excellent and the homestays were basic but lovely, with beautiful views and sunsets. In the evening we chatted around the fire and Sap cooked sticky rice in bamboo. The whole experience felt very authentic and special, and we would not hesitate to recommend the trip!

It was very fun and interesting. Our guide, Nonny, was wonderful, so kind and informative. We learnt a great deal about the agricultural practices and the different plants as well as Thai traditions and culture. The visit of the Temple was very enlightening as well. Lunch was delicious! Stinky falls was a fun experience. Thank you, Nonny, for making this activity so enjoyable!

Our highlight in northern Thailand! We spent 3 fantastic days trekking with our group and a guide Sap (and a guide in training Mr Deng) who led us through amazingly beautiful varied sceneries and views and taught us about the nature, history and people of the area. We ate delicious home-cooked meals and stayed in comfortable homestays waking up to breathtaking sunrises. The trek was of a moderate difficulty, definitely do-able if you are in good physical condition, you don't need to be extremely fit. Much recommended and worth the money!
