Located in the village of Hiripitiya, Dolukanda is steeped in ancient folklore — legend has it that a fragment of the Himalayas fell here, dropped by Lord Hanuman during his mythical flight. The mountain is also said to harbor herb forests with miraculous healing powers, giving it the nickname “the Mountain of Magical Herbs.”
The adventure begins with a 2-hour hike to the summit, covering approximately 3.7 km uphill through rocky terrain and scrub forest. Once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with 360° panoramic views of the surrounding green lowlands — a view that will quite literally take your breath away.
The highlight of the day awaits next: an adrenaline-pumping abseiling descent down a 350-foot rock face under the supervision of trained instructors. With safety gear, helmets, and professional guidance, you’ll experience the exhilarating sensation of descending into open air, with nothing but the vast landscape stretching out before you.
