The glaciers of New Zealand’s Southern Alps spill toward the sea, vast rivers of ice framed by peaks that touch the clouds. For five unforgettable days, you’ll ski where few ever have — across shining neve fields and through wide-open terrain that catches the first and last light of the day. Each turn is carved against a backdrop that feels impossibly wild and remote.

Your journey begins in Wānaka, where the helicopter lifts you high into the heart of the mountains — Aoraki/Mount Cook, Fox Glacier, or the West Coast ranges. With your guide, you’ll chase the best snow each day: long descents through untouched powder, gliding past towering seracs and ridgelines sculpted by the wind. Nights are spent in alpine huts, sharing hot meals and stories as the sun drops behind the Main Divide.

Everything is arranged — flights, technical gear, meals — so you can focus on the rhythm of the climb, the glide, the quiet. Join us, and discover the rare joy of skiing among glaciers that meet the ocean!

Route details

Day 1
Into the Mountains

Meet your guide at our Wānaka office the evening before departure for a pre-trip briefing, gear check, and final preparations.

The next morning, return to the office at 8:00am to complete packing before driving to the staging area in Fox Township or Aoraki/Mount Cook — a journey of around 3.5 hours. From there, we load into the helicopter for a stunning flight into the mountains. After a safety briefing on glacier travel, we head out for our first ski tour to assess conditions and get familiar with the terrain. With light packs, we climb toward a nearby col or slope for panoramic views and our first turns in the backcountry.
