Route details

Whether you want to start your climb from the lifts, skin your way into remote alpine basins, or fly straight into untouched terrain — our three backcountry routes let you choose your own adventure.

Treble Cone Day Tour
Meet your guide at 8:00 am in Wānaka to finalise plans and check your gear. If you’re new to touring, you can visit the office the day before to make sure your setup is perfect — rental gear can be easily arranged.
From the top of Treble Cone, begin your backcountry adventure, finishing the day with an exciting descent to Blue Creek. A short climb takes you back to the Saddle Chair for your last lift ride out of the valley. We usually catch the final lift at 3:30 pm, returning to town around 5:00 pm.

Remarkables Day Tour
Meet your guide at 8:00 am at the base of The Remarkables Ski Area. Make sure your touring equipment is ready — skis, skins, or splitboard — rented the evening before in Queenstown if needed.
From there, skin past Lake Alta and into untouched backcountry terrain. You’ll explore Wye Creek or the Doolans, stopping for lunch with sweeping alpine views. We usually return to the ski field around 3:30 pm and finish the day by 4:00 pm at the base area.

Heli-Backcountry Day Tour
Stop by our Wānaka office the afternoon before your trip to check gear or arrange rentals. On the day of your adventure, meet at 8:00 am before heading to the Cattle Flat heli staging area.
After a short flight, spend the full day skiing or riding Treble Cone or Black Peak’s back bowls, getting maximum vertical and endless turns. We typically fly out around 4:00 pm and return to Wānaka by 5:00 pm.

*Please note this itinerary may vary depending on weather, snow, and group ability — flexibility is part of the adventure.
