Step into a world where volcanoes shaped the land and hot springs bubble at the water’s edge. This overnight hike takes you from Auckland to the remote beauty of Lake Tarawera, where the trail winds through native forest and opens to the geothermal haven of Te Rata Bay.
By day, walk beneath towering trees, hear stories of eruptions that changed the landscape, and follow the shoreline until steam rising from the sand marks your destination. At Hot Water Beach, you can dig your toes into the warm ground or slip straight into the lake where thermal streams create your own natural spa.
In the evening you’ll camp by the lake, with the sound of waves on the shore and the constellations of stars stretching above your head. Morning brings a quiet hike back through the forest, carrying with you the feeling of having touched a secret corner of NZ few ever reach. Join us on this geothermal escape and find the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, and wonder!
