Imagine starting high on the Taihape–Napier Road, where the wind moves through dry tussock grass and the land opens wide in every direction. From here, your ride begins — a gradual journey west, all the way to the wild beaches of Koitiata, where the road meets the Tasman Sea.
The route takes you through the heart of rural New Zealand, following quiet backroads that shift between gravel and smooth sealed roads. You pass through Otupae and Mangaohane Stations, cross the Rangitikei River, and ride through places like Moawhango and Mangaweka. Along the way, you reach landmarks such as Springvale Bridge, Mokai Bridge, and the White Cliff Boulders. Each day brings a different landscape, slowly leading you from high country to the coast.
The trip is fully supported, with a guide riding alongside you and a vehicle carrying your gear. You stay in a mix of comfortable rooms and simple rural accommodation along the way. You ride at your own pace, stop when you want, and focus on the road ahead. If you want a route that starts in open highlands and ends at the ocean, this is one to follow!
